The 200+ audience heard some excellent and very informative Talks.

Dr. Elizabeth Price (Great Western Hospital, Swindon) talked on Managing the Complications of Lupus and its treatment.

Dr. Jane Luker (Bristol Dental Hospital) spoke about the effect of Lupus on the teeth and the treatment and side effects of the drugs that are used. She stressed what should be avoided and the importance of oral health care.

Prof. David Isenberg (Middlesex Hospital) talked about the History, Geography and Science of Lupus and gave a very good insight into the disease.

Janet Dean MP spoke about the work she is doing in Parliament to raise awareness of the help still needed for Lupus patients.
She informed the Conference of the Adjournment Debate being held at Westminster the following Wednesday and reported that she had the support of many MPs.

Prof. Robin Brey (San Antonio USA) spoke on Cerebral Lupus and how treatment is improving to try and prevent it before complications set in.

The Medical Panel of Prof. David Isenberg, Prof Robin Brey, Dr. Elizabeth Price and Dr. Neil McHugh (Bath) answered a number of questions from the audience.

The LUPUS UK AGM outlined the current situations of the Charity and the hopes for the future.
Warm wishes were extended to Brian Hanner who was attending his last Conference as Director.

The day ended with entertainment from Fred Wedlock who brought lots of laughter with his songs and jokes.

The West Midlands Lupus Group was very well represented and all present enjoyed the whole Conference.
