  APPG/LUPUS UK Reception

On 29th October, Janet Dean MP (Chair, All party Parliamentary Group for Lupus) sponsored a Reception, organised by Yvonne Norton (Vice-Chair & Trustee, LUPUS UK) in the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons. The Reception was addressed by Janet Dean, Ronnie Gourley (Chair, LUPUS UK),
Yvonne Norton and the main Guest, Stephen Ladyman MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department of Health. The Reception was attended by a large number of MPs and other Parliamentarians and representatives of most of the Regional Groups of LUPUS UK. The booklet,  Lupus and the Skin, was launched during the Reception.

  Launch of first UK Lupus Drop-In Clinic

The first Lupus Drop-In Clinic in the UK was launched at The Guest Hospital, Dudley, by Ross Cranston QC MP on Friday, 31st October. Monthly sessions will have a variety of Speakers/demonstrations.

  Janet Dean MP presents Early Day Motion to Parliament

  The first UK Lupus Drop-In Clinic

The first UK Lupus Drop-In Clinic, a joint venture with the West Midlands Lupus Group and the Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust, will be launched at The Guest Hospital, Dudley, on Friday, 3rd October, by Ross Cranston QC MP.

Ross Cranston QC MP, Dudley North, has written to Dudley Beacon and Castle Primary Care Trust asking what provision is being made for Lupus patients within the area covered by the Trust.

  Health Minister

(HOT NEWS 10th June 2003)
Jacqui Smith MP, Health Minister, met with members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Lupus and representatives of LUPUS UK. The lack of NHS funding for Specialist Lupus Nurses being the main topic for discussion.    MP members of the APPG are to contact Primary Care Trusts to explore the possibility of local funding.
