  New National Patron for LUPUS UK is announced.

The Rt Hon Dr The Lord Gilbert has graciously agreed to take on the role of a National Patron of LUPUS UK and to represent the charity in the House of Lords.


  Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health meets with APPG.

On Monday, 15th November, Dr. Stephen Ladyman MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health, attended the AGM of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Lupus at Westminster. The Meeting was also attended by a further 8 MPs, 1 peer, 2 Lupus consultants and 3 representatives of LUPUS UK.


  Lupus Open-Access (Drop-In) Clinic celebrates First Birthday

The first UK Lupus Drop-In Clinic based at The Guest Hospital, Dudley, celebrated its first year on Friday, 29th October, with a buffet reception attended by Ross Cranston QC MP, The Mayor of Dudley and other invited Guests.


  World Lupus Day Early Day Motion

The EDM highlighting the first-ever World Lupus Day presented to Parliament by Janet Dean MP (Chair, All Party Parliamentary Group for Lupus) was signed by 220 MPs. Other MPs, unable to sign EDMs due to offices held, also expressed their support.


  EULAR welcomes Lupus Drop-In Clinic Reports

At the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Annual Meeting in Berlin 9-12th June, 2 Posters detailing the work of the first UK Lupus Drop-In Clinic at the Guest Hospital, Dudley, were presented by Gareth Treharne and Liz Hale, research psychologists. The Posters underline the value of the Drop-In Clinic and the need for similar projects to be established in other areas.


  Janet Dean MP secures Adjournment debate in Westminster Hall

On 26th May, Janet Dean MP (Chair, All Party Parliamentary Group for Lupus) was successful in securing 1½ hr Adjournment Debate on Lupus in Westminster Hall.


Key Speakers in the Debate were Janet Dean MP (Burton), Dennis Turner MP (Wolverhampton South-East), Dr. Richard Taylor MP (Wyre Forest), Liz Blackman MP (Erewash), David Taylor MP (North-West Leicestershire), Ross Cranston QC MP (Dudley North), Sarah Teather (Brent, East) and Tim Loughton MP (East Worthing and Shoreham).

  Janet Dean MP Presents World Lupus Day Early Day Motion to Parliament

On 28th April, Janet Dean MP (Chair, All Party Parliamentary Group for Lupus) presented an EDM with 71 signatures highlighting the first-ever World Lupus Day and calling for more research and support for Lupus patients worldwide.
