Kay Lockley, WMLG member, took part in the Anthony Gormley project ‘One and Other’, Sunday, 26^th July – well done, Kay!

Caroline McCarthy, WMLG member, was chosen to take part in the ‘One and Other’ project, having her hour on the 4^th Plinth in Trafalgar Square on Sunday, 13^th September – well done, Caroline!

  UCB SCIENCE DAY

UCB Pharmaceuticals, Slough, held a Science Day on 30^th September with lupus being the chosen topic. Yvonne Norton MBE gave a presentation to the UCB Research Group and followed this with a further presentation to around 150 staff members from all departments.

  LUPUS UK GOES TO DOWNING STREET!

Tuesday, 6^th October, Sarah Brown hosted a Reception at 10, Downing Street to celebrate Lupus Awareness Month. The event was attended by patients, Trustees, medical consultants and supporters of LUPUS UK.

  NEW GP BOOK IS LAUNCHED

Lupus – Diagnosis & Treatment (a revision of the GP Guide), compiled and edited by Yvonne Norton MBE on behalf of LUPUS UK, was launched during the Reception at 10, Downing Street, 6^th October.

  LUPUS UK Centre of Excellence

The annual audit of the LUPUS UK Centre of Excellence at Queen Elizabeth/City Hospitals, Birmingham, took place 9^th February. The Unit passed the inspection with flying colours.

  LUPUS UK AGM & National Conference and Meet & Greet

The LUPUS UK AGM & National Conference will take place on Sunday, 10th May, at the Best Western Stoke-on-Trent Moat House, and will be hosted by West Midlands Lupus Group. The Committee and Contacts will be pleased to welcome delegates to “Meet & Greet”, 4.30 – 6.30pm, Saturday, 9th May.

  Autoimmune Focus Meeting

Prof Caroline Gordon and Yvonne Norton spoke about Lupus, medically and from the patient’s view, at the Autoimmune Focus Meeting organised by The Binding Site, 11/12th November at Coventry. Both Speakers nominated the West Midlands Lupus Group to receive charitable donations from the company.

  ELEF becomes LUPUS EUROPE with new Chair

During the Annual Convention of the European Lupus Erythematosus Federation (ELEF) held in Palma, Majorca, during September, the charity was re-named LUPUS EUROPE and Yvonne Norton was elected Chair.
