West Midlands Lupus Group Open Meeting, Sunday 19th October 2003

The Open Meeting was attended by around 60 members and Friends who heard a Talk by Ann Wild, Rheumatology Nurse Practitioner with the Dudley Group of Hospitals.

Ann reported on the Lupus Nurses seminar which she had recently attended at St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, and she thanked WMLG for giving her the opportunity to meet with other Lupus Nurses and to expand on her knowledge of Lupus.

Ann spoke about the Lupus Drop-In Clinic that had been launched at the Guest Hospital, Dudley, two weeks earlier and said she thought it to be an excellent project and that it would be of help to patients who may feel that their problems may be too embarrassing or even trivial to bother a doctor.

During the Meeting, Yvonne Norton, Chairman, made two presentations. The Christine Seivewright Memorial Trophy was awarded to Carys Owen and a Certificate of Appreciation and commemorative gift were presented to Carl Turley.

Carl was part of the WMLG Golden Bond Team in the Flora London Marathon 2003 and raised the marvellous sum of £2,354.28.

Well done, Carl, and THANK YOU!
